Results from the DD2 study published December 11, 2017 in Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews show an increasing prevalence of clinical and behavioral risk factors such as severe obesity, hyperlipidemia, low-grade inflammation, physical inactivity, and smoking, the younger the age of onset of type 2 diabetes suggesting that early onset type 2 diabetes is not a benign condition. These patients need more support and multifactorial interventions compared to those who develop diabetes at an older age.
